Amritsar International Airport, also known as Raja Sansi International Airport, is 11 km from the city of Amritsar, India. The airport serves not only the city of Amritsar, but also the greater Punjab area. Raja Sansi International Airport is named after and in honour of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's family name - Sansi.
Amritsar Airport was recently refurbished. Newly finished Arrival and Departure Terminals were inaugurated in March 2006.As a government designated international airport, the airport currently handles about 100 commercial flights a week, both international and domestic.
